The “Power Subsidy” is a sub-scheme under the broader West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme, launched on 13 December 2022 by the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal. The scheme will remain valid for a period of five years from the date of launch.
Objective
The objective of the West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme is to extend fiscal incentives to textile units across the value chain, from fibre to finished garments. This aims to: • Accelerate textile sector development
• Maximize resource utilization
• Generate employment
• Establish West Bengal as a preferred investment destination in textiles
Under the Power Subsidy sub-scheme, eligible enterprises are entitled to electricity reimbursement for a period of 5 years from the date of commercial production.
Benefits
• Power subsidy reimbursement of ₹50,00,000 to ₹2,00,00,000 per annum
• Assistance provided for 5 years from the start of production
• Applicable to electricity consumed from any licensed power supplier
Eligibility Criteria
• The enterprise must be in the manufacturing/processing of textiles, apparel, or technical textiles
• The unit should have commenced production on or after 1st April 2022
• The project must be approved and sanctioned by a recognized financial institution or commercial/state bank
• Eligible enterprises may operate in the private, cooperative, joint, or state-owned sectors
