Jharkhand Coaching Scheme for ST Students: Empowering ST Candidates for Competitive Exams

The Scheme of Coaching & Allied for Scheduled Tribes is an initiative by the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority and Backward Class Welfare, Government of Jharkhand to provide free coaching and pre-examination training for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. The scheme aims to help ST candidates prepare for competitive examinations and secure jobs in the public and private sectors.

Implementation of the Scheme

  • The scheme will cover registered private coaching institutions and NGOs operating in Jharkhand.
  • Coaching institutions/NGOs must conduct the coaching program in Ranchi and Dumka.
  • Institutions that operate in multiple districts must submit separate proposals for each district.
  • The coaching program is valid only for one financial year, and fresh proposals will be invited annually.
  • A maximum of 40 students per class is allowed, including non-ST students.
  • 30% of seats are reserved for women ST candidates and 5% for disabled ST candidates.
  • Candidates can avail of coaching only once for a particular competitive exam and a maximum of two coaching courses in total.
  • Institutes must submit a list of enrolled candidates (with photos) within a week of the start of coaching.

Eligibility

For Coaching Institutions

  • Must be a registered private coaching institution/NGO.
  • Should have at least 3 years of experience in conducting coaching for competitive exams.
  • Must not be bankrupt or blacklisted by any government department.
  • Should have adequate infrastructure to conduct coaching at Ranchi and Dumka.

For Students

  • Must be a resident of Jharkhand.
  • Must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
  • Must meet the eligibility criteria for the competitive exams being coached for.
  • Annual family income should not exceed ₹ 2,50,000.
  • Must not have previously availed of coaching under any other Jharkhand/Indian Government scheme.
