The Pre-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe Students is an initiative taken by the government in order to sponsor Scheduled Tribe (ST) students pursuing education at Class 9th and 10th level in government schools or government recognized schools or central/state board-recognized schools. The program was introduced in an effort to reduce the drop rate, particularly for the phase changing from elementary education to secondary, through provision of financial help to pursue studies. It is aimed at facilitating the education of ST children so that they can move to higher levels of education, such as the post-matric stage.
