The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa’s “Merit Based Scholarship Scheme for Dhangar Students” seeks to inspire students by means of merit-based awards and financial incentives to high-performance students who are economically deprived. Based on their SSC and HSSC board exam performance, Dhangar students receive monetary scholarships ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 through this scheme.
The applications for this scheme are accepted online. The scheme is being implemented by the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal, Government of Goa.
Benefits of the Scholarship
1. Financial Awards for Rank Holders
The top 5 rank holders in each category receive ₹20,000 each:
- SSC Examination (Class 10) – Top 5 students.
- HSSC Science Stream (Class 12) – Top 5 students.
- HSSC Commerce Stream (Class 12) – Top 5 students.
- HSSC Arts Stream (Class 12) – Top 5 students.
- HSSC Vocational Stream (Class 12) – Top 5 students.
2. Merit-Based Awards Based on Marks
- 50% to 59.99%: ₹5,000
- 60% to 69.99%: ₹8,000
- 70% to 74.9%: ₹10,000
- 75% and above: ₹15,000

Mode of Disbursement
The financial award is transferred electronically to the student’s bank account.
Eligibility Criteria
For Rank Holders Category
- The applicant must belong to the Dhangar community.
- Must be among the top 5 rank holders in their SSC or HSSC board examination.
- No income limit restrictions for rank holders.
For Merit-Based Awards
- The applicant must belong to the Dhangar community.
- The applicant’s annual family income must be below ₹2,00,000.
- The applicant must have achieved a minimum qualifying percentage as per the financial award slabs.
Application Process
Step 1: Online Registration
- Visit the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal, Goa.
- Click on “Register” in the top right corner.
- Click “Click Here” under the Student Registration section.
- Fill in the registration form with:
- Student’s Name, Gender, Category, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number.
- Address (House No., Village, Taluka, District, PIN Code, etc.).
- Mobile Number and Email ID.
- Create a secure password (8 to 15 characters) and confirm.
- Click “Register” and confirm by selecting “Yes” on the popup.
Step 2: Submitting the Application
- Login to the Chief Minister Scholarship Portal using your User ID, Password, and Captcha.
- Click on the relevant scholarship scheme from the displayed list.
- Select “Fresh Application” in the navigation bar.
- Fill in all the mandatory details in the application form.
- Upload the required documents (as per the specified format).
- Click “Submit” to complete the application.
Step 3: Post Application Process
- The school/institution will verify the application and forward it to the Directorate of Social Welfare for review.
- If any corrections are required, the school/institution will return the application for necessary modifications.
Step 4: Track Your Application Status
- Click on “Track Application” in the navigation bar.
- Enter your Aadhaar Number and Date of Birth.
- Click “Submit” to view the current status.
