The Educational Assistance Scheme for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships is an initiative of the Meghalaya Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB), under the Labour Department, Government of Meghalaya. This scheme provides financial assistance to the children of registered construction workers to support their education from Class I to Degree courses.

Eligibility Criteria
- Residency:
The construction worker should be a resident of Meghalaya. - Occupation:
The worker must be engaged in building or other construction work. - Registration:
The worker must be registered under the Meghalaya Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and have active membership. - Educational Enrollment:
- The children of registered workers should be enrolled in any grade from Class I to Degree courses.
- The children must not be receiving financial assistance from any other source.
- Family Limit:
- Only two children from the same family are eligible for scholarships.
Exclusions
- Children pursuing the same level of education in different subjects (e.g., Class XI Arts after Class XI Science).
- Children pursuing multiple professional streams (e.g., LLB after B.Ed).
- Children engaged in full-time employment during their study period.
- Children enrolled in part-time courses or courses of less than 6 months duration.
Renewal Criteria
- Students must apply afresh each year.
- Scholarships are renewable if the student successfully progresses to the next class.
- Scholarships will pause if the student fails to pass a specific academic year until they clear the exam.
Conditions for Discontinuation
- Misrepresentation or false information will result in immediate cancellation and recovery of funds.
- Scholarships will be terminated if the student changes the course of study or institution without prior approval.
- Discontinuation of studies will lead to a refund of the scholarship amount at the Board’s discretion.
