Launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Short-term exposure under the internship program is meant to involve students in mass communication-related undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies. Aiming to raise awareness of the need of water resources preservation and management, the internship provides practical experience in media and social media activities.
Internship Structure
First Month:
Learn about the department’s IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities.
Create content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
Plan social media strategy and set targets.
Second Month:
Promote departmental services and raise awareness.
Engage with audiences and build relationships.
Draft press releases for department events.
Third Month:
- Conduct research and audience analysis.
- Monitor and analyze social media impact.
- Publicize National Water Awards to increase participation.
- Draft speeches for senior officials regarding department achievements.
Duration:
- Minimum: 3 months
- Maximum: 6 months (extendable monthly)

Terms & Conditions for Interns
- Dedication & Discipline: Interns must pursue the internship sincerely and adhere to all rules.
- Attendance: 90% attendance is mandatory.
- Mode of Internship: Physical presence is required at the Secretariat in New Delhi.
- Accommodation: Interns must arrange their own lodging.
- Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday-Friday).
- Non-Employment Status: The internship does not guarantee a job.
- Confidentiality Agreement: Interns must maintain confidentiality and cannot disclose information.
- Performance Monitoring: Poor performance can lead to termination.

Placement: Each intern will work closely with a Deputy Secretary, Director, Joint Secretary, or the Secretary’s Office (WR, RD & GR) in coordination with the IEC Section.
Eligibility
The applicant must be a student.
Educational Qualification:
- BA/MA/PG in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or MBA (Marketing).
- Diploma holders in the above fields are also eligible.
Technical Requirement: The applicant must have their own laptop.
Academic Performance Criteria: - Undergraduate students:
- Completed 2nd year/4th semester.
- Scored at least 60% marks in Class 12th.
- Recent Graduates/Postgraduate students:
- Appeared in or completed final exams.
- Secured at least 55% marks in graduation/post-graduation.
- Ph.D. or Research Scholars:
- Completed or currently pursuing research in mass communication, PR, or journalism.
- Scored at least 55% marks in their last qualifying degree.
