LLB Internship Programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Law and Justice under the Department of Justice (DoJ) to provide young law students with hands-on experience in the field of justice delivery. The programme aims to acquaint students with the functioning of the Department of Justice and allow them to gain knowledge in various specialized areas such as Access to Justice, e-Courts services, Fast Track Special Courts, and more. The internship gives students a chance to understand legal reforms, justice delivery systems, and related functions.
Duration & Timings
- The internship duration is typically one month (four weeks).
- Summer Programme (Phase 1) will have the following slots:
- 10th June 2024 to 9th July 2024 (Application deadline: 5th June 2024)
- 10th July 2024 to 9th August 2024 (Application deadline: 5th July 2024)
- 12th August 2024 to 11th September 2024 (Application deadline: 5th August 2024)
Number of Interns
- A maximum of 10 interns will be selected for each monthly slot, based on the Department’s requirements.
Placement
- Interns will be posted with an officer at the level of Deputy Secretary, Director, Joint Secretary, or the Secretary, Department of Justice.
- Placement will be approved by the Competent Authority.
Attendance
- 90% attendance is mandatory for satisfactory completion of the internship.
- This is a full-time internship that requires physical attendance.
Benefits
- Honorarium: Interns will receive an honorarium of ₹5,000/- upon successful completion of the internship.
- Certificate: A Certificate of Internship will be awarded upon the satisfactory completion of the programme.
Eligibility
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be Indian students who have completed:
- 2nd year of a 3-year LLB course or 3rd year of a 5-year integrated law degree.
- 3rd year students or 4th year students (after the exam to enter 5th year).
- Age Requirement: The minimum age for applying is 18 years.
- The internship is available to undergraduate law students from recognized institutions in India.
- Interns must be enrolled in an accredited law school or university.
Exclusions
- The internship is not an employment guarantee with the Department.
- No TA/DA or remuneration other than the honorarium will be provided.
- Students who have already completed an internship with the Department of Justice in previous years are not eligible for the current year’s programme.
