The LLB Internship Programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice (DoJ). This internship is designed to train young law students by providing exposure to legal research and referencing work in various specialized areas of justice delivery.

Interns will gain experience in key areas such as:

  • Access to Justice (Tele-Law, Nyaya Bandhu, Legal Aid, Pro Bono Legal Services)
  • e-Courts Services
  • Fast Track Special Courts
  • National Mission for Justice Delivery & Legal Reforms
  • CSS for Development of Infrastructure Facilities in the Judiciary

Duration & Timings

  • The internship will last one month (four weeks).

  • Internship slots (Summer Programme – Ist Phase, 2024-25):

    1. 10 June 2024 – 09 July 2024 (Last date to apply: 05 June 2024)
    2. 10 July 2024 – 09 August 2024 (Last date to apply: 05 July 2024)
    3. 12 August 2024 – 11 September 2024 (Last date to apply: 05 August 2024)
  • Number of Interns: A maximum of 10 candidates will be selected per slot.


Placement & Attendance

  • Each intern will be assigned to an officer at the level of Deputy Secretary, Director, Joint Secretary, or Secretary, Department of Justice.
  • 90% attendance is mandatory for successful completion.
  • This is a full-time, physical internship (no remote options).

Benefits

Honorarium

  • Interns will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 upon successful completion of the internship.

Certification

  • A Certificate of Internship will be awarded on satisfactory completion.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates include Indian students who have completed:

  • 2nd year of a 3-year LLB and written the examination for 3rd year OR
  • 3rd year of a 3-year LLB OR
  • 4th year of a 5-year integrated LLB and written the examination for 5th year OR
  • 5th year of a 5-year integrated LLB course.

Exclusions

  • This internship does not guarantee employment with the Department of Justice.
  • No TA/DA (Travel or Daily Allowance) will be provided apart from the stipend.
  • Students who have previously interned with the Department of Justice are not eligible to reapply for the same financial year.
