The KSCSTE Research Fellowship is designed to encourage passionate post-graduate students in science and engineering by providing financial support for their Ph.D. studies. The fellowship is available in seven science streams:

The selection is based on a rigorous online examination, and the final selection is made based on both exam scores and post-graduation marks.
Exam Pattern
- Paper A (General Aptitude): 20 questions (compulsory)
- Paper B (Subject-based): 100 questions (attempt any 50)
- Total Marks Calculation:
- Online exam: 70 marks
- Post-graduation marks: 20 marks
- No negative marking
- 5% relaxation in cutoff marks for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates

Benefits
- Stipend:
- ₹31,000/- per month for Junior Research Fellows (JRF) (first two years)
- ₹35,000/- per month for Senior Research Fellows (SRF) (third year)
- Contingency grant: ₹20,000/- annually
- House Rent Allowance (HRA):
- No HRA for those with hostel accommodation
- If hostel accommodation is not available, HRA up to 10% of the fellowship amount is provided
- Duration: Fellowship is valid for three years
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a post-graduate degree from a university in Kerala.
- A maximum of three attempts is allowed after completing the qualifying degree.
- Minimum 70% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in post-graduation (for General/OBC).
- SC/ST/differently-abled candidates require 65% marks.
- Upper age limit: 35 years as of the 1st of the advertisement month.

Online Mode:
- Applications are invited during September – October annually.
- Candidates must apply through the KSCSTE official website.
- Registration fee:
- ₹750/- for General/OBC candidates
- SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted from the fee.
- Candidates must appear for an online entrance exam at designated centers across Kerala.
- The offer letter will be sent via email and post.
- Selected fellows must register for Ph.D. in a Kerala-based university within one year from the date of the offer letter.
