KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellowships will be provided to those who possess a Ph.D. in science and engineering with high-quality research publications in SCI journals. The program aims to encourage Ph.D. holders to pursue further research and to develop careers as scientists. Selection of candidates through screening cum selection committee after evaluating the quality of the proposal, presentation, discussion, details of publications, academic records/recognitions, etc. The Post-Doctoral Fellowship can be availed for research in an institution other than the department or institute in India where the candidate has undergone Ph.D. work.
Objectives of the Scheme:
- To support research aptitude among Ph.D. holders in science and technology.
- To encourage Ph.D. holders to pursue research and develop as scientists.
- To motivate fellows to acquire skills for lifelong learning, technical expertise, and leadership.
Necessary Conditions:
- A Scientist Mentor from the host institution is required. The mentor should have at least 5 years of service left before retirement and will guide the fellow’s research work.
- Fellows must not receive financial assistance from any other State/Central funding agencies simultaneously. An undertaking must be provided in this regard.
- The implementing institution must provide full infrastructural facilities, including laboratories, computers, and accommodation.
- The unutilized portion of the grant (with interest accrued) should be refunded to KSCSTE at the end of the fellowship.
Benefits:
- Monthly fellowship of ₹45,000 + 10% HRA.
- Annual contingency grant of ₹75,000.
- Duration of the fellowship is limited to 2 years.
Eligibility:
- Permanent Resident of Kerala.
- Ph.D. in Science/Engineering subjects with high-quality research publications.
- Minimum 60% marks in post-graduation.
- Fellowships are open only to those who are not permanent employees at the time of application.
- Age limit is 40 years, with relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- Publications: At least one research paper in a SCI journal or a secured patent.
- Research Center: Should be a different institution from the one where the candidate completed their Ph.D. Research Centers must be in Kerala or premier national institutions like IISER, IIT, IISc outside Kerala.
- Previous Fellowship Restriction: Those who have already availed of a post-doctoral fellowship from KSCSTE or any other agency are not eligible.
