Junior Merit Scholarship Odisha 2025: Amount, Last date

The Government of Odisha’s School & Mass Education Department awards “Junior Merit Scholarship” under the Scheme ‘e-medhabruti’ from the State budget to help meritorious Higher Secondary School students from families with parental incomes up to 6.00 lakhs pay for part of their higher education.
The scholarship is for Class 11 and 12 students at state higher secondary schools.
Selecting on merit: These factors will be considered

  • Compliance with scheme eligibility requirements.
  • The Higher Secondary School/Institute Principal authenticates/validates student records online.
The final merit/selection lists will be based on the percentage of HSC test marks from validated students in merit, proportionally. Scholarship selection is done in descending order of merit until the quota is reached.
  • A student who scored 92% in the last exam will come first, then 91%, and so on.
If there is a tie in the percentage of marks under a certain scholarship and some are left out owing to exceeding the maximum quota, the student with a lower parental income ceiling will be given preference.
The CBSE/ICSE grading system uses CGPA, which is converted to percentage by multiplying by 9.5.
  • Scholarships are awarded to students who meet eligibility criteria and validate/authenticate by Principals of relevant Higher Secondary Schools/Institutes only online. The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education would use DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to pay the selected students the scholarship. It will go to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Scholarship Duration and Renewal:
A student might get the scholarship throughout Class XII. State Scholarship Portal scholarships are automatically renewable if the student continues in Class XII (2nd Year) and the institute verifies online.
