Launched on 26th January 1996 by the Government of Gujarat, the Janta Juth Accidental Insurance Scheme is a 100% state-sponsored program designed to provide economic assistance of up to ₹2,00,000 in the event of an accidental death or permanent disability of a registered farmer. The scheme aims to support the successor of the farmer by offering financial relief, with the insurance premium fully paid by the state. Under this scheme, in case of accidental death or permanent disability, all registered farmers, any child (son/daughter) of the farmer, and the husband/wife (aged 5 to 70 years) are eligible beneficiaries.
Benefits
• Accidental Death/Permanent Disability: 100% assistance of ₹2,00,000
• Loss of Two Eyes/Two Limbs/Hand and Leg/One Eye and One Hand or Leg: 100% assistance of ₹2,00,000 (full sight loss in case of an eye; loss of upper wrist part for hand; complete severance for leg)
• Loss of One Eye or One Limb: 50% assistance of ₹1,00,000
Eligibility
• The deceased or the person with permanent disability must be a registered farmer (with individual or joint land), or a child (son/daughter) or spouse of a registered farmer
• The death or permanent disability must result from an accident
• Beneficiaries must be between the ages of 5 to 70 years
• Applications must be submitted within 150 days to the concerned District Agriculture Officer

Application Process
Offline
• Submit the application along with the relevant papers in the prescribed format to the concerned District Agricultural Officer, District Panchayat within 150 days from the date of death or accidental disability.
– In the case of accidental death, the applicant will be the accidental farmer’s successor.
– In the case of accidental disability, the applicant will be the disabled person.
• Applications received after 150 days will not be eligible.
