Jagananna Amma Vodi 2025-26 Andhra Pradesh

Launched on January 9, 2020 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy, the “Jagananna Amma Vodi” plan pays needy mothers (or recognised guardian in absence of mother) ₹15,000/-per annum for taking their children to school. The School Education Department of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh oversees the project. The initiative aims to improve access to schools, guarantee equity, assuring excellent education, increase attendance and retention, so attaining better learning results, and so enable the general development of the child from Classes 1st to 12th.
The scheme is expected to lead to a strong foundation for the increase in the overall Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) at the primary and secondary levels of education of the state including Higher Education and framed Guidelines for implementation of the program.

Benefits

  • ₹14,000 is directly deposited into the mother’s or guardian’s savings account annually through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  • ₹1,000 from the total amount is deducted at the source and allocated to the District Toilet Maintenance Fund (DTMF) for improving sanitation facilities in schools, under the supervision of the District Collector.
  • The financial support continues every year until the child completes Class 12.

Eligibility

  1. The mother or guardian must be a resident of Andhra Pradesh.
  2. The child must be studying in Classes 1 to 12.
  3. The school/college must be a recognized Government, Private Aided, Private Unaided School/Junior College, or a Residential School/College within Andhra Pradesh.
  4. The total family income must be:
    • Less than ₹10,000/month in rural areas.
    • Less than ₹12,000/month in urban areas.
  5. No family member should be a government employee or government pensioner (exceptions for families of sanitary workers).
  6. The family should not own a four-wheeler, except for taxis, tractors, or autos.
  7. The family’s monthly electricity consumption should be below 300 units (average over six months).
  8. No family member should be an income tax payer.
  9. The land owned within municipal areas should be less than 1000 sq. ft..
  10. The child’s attendance must be at least 75%.

Exclusions

  1. 10th-class students who opt for IIT/Polytechnic/IIIT courses and are eligible for Jagananna Vidya Deevena or Jagananna Vasathi Deevena will be excluded.
  2. Non-residents of Andhra Pradesh are not eligible.

Jagananna Amma Vodi Application Process

Offline Application:

Student Data Collection: The School Headmaster or College Principal submits student details (name, age, parent’s name, caste, etc.) in the specified proforma.

  1. Cross-Validation: Data is cross-verified through 6-Step Checks using Childinfo/UDISE and other department records. The immediate inspecting officer certifies the details for payment.
  2. Social Audit: A Provisional List of eligible candidates is displayed at the village/ward secretariat for public scrutiny. Ineligible candidates are listed with reasons for rejection, and they are notified accordingly.
  3. Final Approval: The final list is prepared by the Welfare Education Assistant/Ward Education & Data Processing Secretary and approved by the District Collector.
    • e-KYC of the mother/guardian is conducted using biometric authentication by volunteers.
  4. Fund Disbursement: The District Educational Officers release funds directly into the beneficiary’s bank account.
  5. Acknowledgment: The mother/guardian provides biometric acknowledgment upon receiving the payment.
