The Internship Scheme by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Government of Goa, provides postgraduate students in social work, psychology, sociology, home science, and counselling with an opportunity for hands-on job training in state-run and private children’s homes and shelter homes.
The program aims to develop qualified professionals in the field of child welfare, women’s protection, and counselling by offering structured on-the-job learning experiences under supervision.
Number of Internship Slots
- 15 slots per year, extendable up to 20 slots.
Internship Duration
- Maximum 12 months.
Internship Locations
Interns will undergo training and work at:
- State-run Children’s Homes
- Protective Homes for Women
- Juvenile Justice Boards
- Child Welfare Committees
- Other Government-Recognized Shelter Homes and Children’s Homes
Internship Reporting & Supervision
- Interns will work under the direct supervision of the officer in charge of their assigned institution.
- Duties may include fieldwork, assisting in probation officers’ reports, and home study report inquiries.
Benefits
Internship Allowance
- ₹15,000 per month (paid as a lump sum).
- If the internship is partially completed in a month, stipend is paid on a pro-rata basis.
Leaves
- One (1) paid leave per month during the internship period.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must have completed a Master’s Degree from a recognized university.
- The Master’s Degree must be in one of the following fields:
- Social Service / Social Work
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Home Science
- Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling
- The applicant must have graduated within the last three years.
- Minimum 50% marks in the final year of postgraduation.
