“Incentive Award for Marriage with Disabled Person” is a grant by the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Manipur. In this scheme, an incentive is granted to a person who marries a Person with Disability. This is a state-sponsored scheme and only citizens who are domiciled in the State of Manipur can apply. The marriage must take place in Manipur, and both the husband and wife should be living together at the time of applying. In addition, the marriage should be registered with the Registrar of Marriage. The application must be submitted through the respective District Social Welfare Officer.
Benefits
- ₹15,000/- if a girl marries a young man with a disability.
- ₹20,000/- if a young man marries a girl with a disability.
- ₹35,000/- if a girl with a disability marries a young man with a disability.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a domicile of the State of Manipur.
- The applicant must be of legal marriage age.
- The applicant should be marrying a Person with Disability who is also of legal marriage age. The age of the girl in the couple should not be less than 18 years and not more than 45 years at the time of marriage.
- The percentage of disability must be 40% or above.
- The applicant should not be an income taxpayer.
- The marriage must take place in Manipur and both husband and wife must be living together at the time of applying.
- The marriage must be registered with the Registrar of Marriage and must fulfill the following conditions:
- Neither party has a spouse living at the time of marriage.
- At the time of marriage, neither party:
- is incapable of giving valid consent due to unsoundness of mind; or
- though capable of giving valid consent, suffers from a mental disorder rendering them unfit for marriage and procreation; or
- has been subject to recurrent attacks of insanity or epilepsy.
- The bridegroom must be at least 21 years old and the bride at least 18 years old at the time of marriage.
- The parties are not within the degrees of prohibited relationship unless permitted by their custom or usage.
- Neither party is an idiot or lunatic.
Note: If divorce or dissolution of the marriage occurs within 3 to 5 years from the date of receipt of the first installment (i.e. 10% of the incentive), the spouse without disability must refund 50% of the total amount as an arrear of land revenue within one year; otherwise, the principal amount with an annual interest of 6.5% will be charged.

Complete the Form:
Fill in all mandatory fields, attach the supporting (self-attested) documents, and include a passport-sized photograph. -
Submit the Application:
Submit the completed and signed form along with the documents to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer’s office. -
Notification:
The names of the selected beneficiaries will be made available on the Department’s website or displayed on the notice board at the Directorate, Social Welfare/District Social Welfare Offices.
