The Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) Industrial Fellowship Programme was launched on June 14, 2021, to support young Indian researchers for industrial exposure in German industries and industrial R&D institutions.
This initiative aims to:
- Motivate Indian researchers towards applied research.
- Strengthen Indo-German collaboration through industry-academia and industry-industry partnerships.
- Expose researchers to advanced industrial R&D environments in Germany.
- Develop a talent pool of postdoctoral researchers for technological innovations.
Fellowship Duration: 6-12 months
- No extensions beyond 12 months.
Benefits
- Fellowship amount: €2,500 per month.
- Single round-trip economy class airfare, visa fees, and travel insurance: up to €1,000.
- Health insurance: As per actuals, with a maximum limit of €100/month.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
- The maximum age limit is 35 years.
- The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Science/Engineering.
- Ph.D. must be awarded within 3 years from the application deadline.
- Outstanding researchers without permanent positions or those with a career break can apply.
- Those who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are eligible to apply.
- Fellowship must be undertaken in an industrial R&D setup in Germany.
Important Notes:
- The applicant must secure a host institution/industry in Germany and submit a Consent Letter from the host.
- NOC from the parent institution is required if the applicant is affiliated with an institution.
- A recommendation letter from the parent mentor must be submitted.
- Applicants not affiliated with an institution must submit two reference letters.
- Fellowship grant is disbursed to the Indian bank account of the awardee or the parent institution in INR.
- The fellowship must start within three months from the date of selection.
- Awardees must submit a completion report within 4 weeks after completing the fellowship.
