The Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, created the “Gomant Vibhushan Award” program to recognize and honor Goan notable individuals who have contributed to the unique and outstanding accomplishment or service in any field of activities or disciplines, including art and culture, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, civil services, public affairs, trade, science and engineering, industry, economics, philosophy, politics, or any other field at the national and international level. Every two years, the Gomant Vibhushan Award will be given out.

Eligibility
- The applicant must have demonstrated distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in their respective fields (art, culture, literature, sports, medicine, etc.).
- The applicant must be of Goan origin.
- Posthumous awards will not be granted, except in cases where the applicant passes away after their name has been recommended by the Task Force Committee.
- Repeated awards: Individuals who have already received this award cannot receive it again.
Exclusions
- No awards will be granted posthumously unless the applicant passes away after their name is recommended for the award by the Task Force Committee.
- Individuals who have previously received the award are not eligible for nomination.
