The “Go-Green Shramik Scheme” is implemented by the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (GBOCWWB) under the Labour, Skill Development & Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat. The scheme is aligned with the Government of India’s Green India Mission and aims to promote environmentally friendly practices among construction workers. It encourages the purchase of battery-operated two-wheelers, thereby not only supporting green commuting but also helping workers relocate from slum areas near construction sites to cleaner residential zones. This initiative provides a one-time subsidy to registered construction workers for the purchase of an electric two-wheeler, in addition to reimbursement for the registration fee and road tax.
Benefits
- Subsidy Amount:
A one-time subsidy is provided at 50% of the ex-showroom price of the battery-operated two-wheeler or ₹30,000, whichever is lower. - Additional Reimbursement:
Registration fee and road tax for a new two-wheeler are reimbursed. - Note:
After deducting the subsidy payable to the dealer from the ex-showroom price, the remaining cost must be borne by the construction contractor. This subsidy is provided in addition to other government electric vehicle-related schemes.
