The Funeral Grant is a welfare scheme administered by the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund under the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry. This scheme provides immediate financial assistance upon the death of an Ex-Serviceman (ESM) or the Widow of an ESM. The grant is applicable only to ex-servicemen and widows registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry.
Benefits
- In the event of the death of an ESM:
- ₹12,000/- is provided to the ESM’s Widow.
- In the event of the death of the Widow of an ESM:
- ₹10,000/- is provided to a member of the ESM’s family.
- The assistance is disbursed immediately upon occurrence, with necessary permissions for burial/cremation from the appropriate authority.
- The amount is credited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via RTGS/NEFT.
Eligibility Criteria
- For death of an ESM:
- The applicant must be the widow of the deceased ESM.
- For death of the Widow of an ESM:
- The applicant can be any member of the deceased ESM’s family.
- In their lifetime, the deceased ESM or the deceased widow should have been registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry.
- The scheme also extends to those ESMs, their living spouses, or widows who are re-employed as regular (or deemed to be regular) in Government/Public Sector Undertakings/Private Organizations and self-employed IT assesses.

- Obtain Application Form:

- Collect the receipt or acknowledgement, which will include details such as the submission date, time, and a unique identification number if applicable.
