The “Fruit Development Scheme” was launched by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya. Its primary aim is to provide good quality planting materials to farmers at subsidized rates through a convergent approach with MGNREGA, thereby promoting fruit cultivation and rejuvenating existing orchards.

Good quality planting materials, horticultural tools, and implements are made available at a 50% subsidy sale.

Free sampling of planting materials is provided under the convergent mode with MGNREGA.

Citrus Rejuvenation Programme:

100% assistance is provided for the rejuvenation of senile citrus orchards through the provision of planting materials and organic-based plant protection measures.

Creeper Fruit Plants:

For creeper fruit plants such as kiwi and grapes, a 75% subsidy is provided for a permanent trellising system, limited to 500 sqm per beneficiary.
