The Forest and Climate Change Internship Scheme is an initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India. The scheme offers internship opportunities to students pursuing Graduation, Post-Graduation, or Research Work in recognized universities in India or abroad.
The internship allows students to gain practical exposure in different Ministry divisions, regional offices, autonomous organizations, and ENVIS (Environmental Information System) Resource Partners and Hubs across the country.
The objective of this scheme is to:
- Expose students to government policies and environmental regulations.

Benefits of the Internship Scheme
1. Monthly Stipend
- Interns receive ₹10,000 per month as a stipend.
- Stipend Deduction Criteria:
- No stipend if the intern leaves before one month.
- Proportional stipend is paid if an intern completes more than one month.
- Absence beyond 3 days in a month leads to a deduction based on excess leave days.
2. Experience Certificate
- Interns completing the full term receive a Certificate of Completion issued by the Divisional Head.
- Interns leaving before the required period are not eligible for certification.
3. Logistics & Support
- Interns must bring their own laptops.
- The Ministry will provide workspace, internet access, and other necessary facilities.
4. Exposure & Learning Opportunities
- Interns participate in seminars and presentations by experts.
- Visits to government offices, research institutions, and field projects for hands-on learning.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Forest and Climate Change Internship Scheme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a student pursuing Graduation, Post-Graduation, or Research Work from a recognized university in India or abroad.
- Preference will be given to students pursuing M.Sc. or PGDM from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM).
- Applicants who have previously completed an internship under MoEFCC are not eligible.
Exclusions
- Applicants who have already completed an internship at the Ministry cannot reapply.
- The Ministry reserves the right to limit the number of selected applicants based on demand.
