Financial Assistance to Sportspersons to Pursue sports coaching course” is a scheme run by Department of Sports Youth Services, Government of Odisha. This project shall have the objective of providing sportspersons from Odisha proper coaching qualifications by enrolling them for coaching related courses run at SAI (Sports Authority of India) and NSNIS (Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports), Patiala. It is centred around gaining employability by learning skills and advancing career prospects in the sport of coaching.

- For BPL Category Sportspersons:
- 100% Course Fee covered.
- Additional financial assistance of ₹10,000 for Diploma and long-term courses and ₹5,000 for Six Weeks Certificate Courses to cover travel and other expenses.
- For Non-BPL Category Sportspersons:
- 75% Course Fee covered.
- Additional financial assistance of ₹5,000 for Diploma and long-term courses and ₹2,500 for Six Weeks Certificate Courses for travel and miscellaneous expenses.

- Selection letter from SAI, NSNIS, Patiala (or a printout of the website page displaying selection).
- Original application form submitted to SAI, NSNIS, Patiala.
- Attested copy of BPL card (if applicable).
- Step 02: The Sports & Youth Services Department will verify the application and sanction financial assistance. The course fee will be remitted directly to the SAI Bank Account, and additional funds will be transferred to the applicant’s bank account.
Priority and Selection
- BPL Category applicants are given priority over Non-BPL applicants in case of a large number of applications.
- Among BPL and Non-BPL applicants, priority is based on sporting achievements.
Commitment from Beneficiaries
- Beneficiaries must render two years of coaching service to the Sports & Youth Services Department, if required, with benefits as per the department’s rules.
- The scheme does not guarantee employment. Beneficiaries must seek employment independently.
