Chief Minister’s Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme 2025

The Gujarat energy and Petrochemicals Department began the Kisan Suryoday Yojana (KSY) in 2020–2021 to enable farmers to have electricity available throughout the day so they may continue their operations. It aims at a uniform and reliable electrical supply from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm to support irrigation and other vital farm operations for farmers. It also uses solar and non-traditional energy sources, encourages environmentally beneficial solutions, and reduces dependency on conventional power networks.

The policy is being phased in as solar power plants and other renewable energy sources are being built and put into operation.

Key Features of the Scheme

Subsidy Benefits

  • Capital Subsidy: ₹20,000 per kW for grid-connected domestic solar PV systems.
  • Additional Subsidy: 30% of the MNRE benchmark cost or 30% of the project cost, whichever is less.
  • System Capacity:
    • Individual homes/flats: 1 kW per house/flat.
    • Residential flats (common areas): Solar system capacities of 5 kW, 10 kW, and multiples thereof for group applications.
  • Net Metering Provision: Reduces electricity bills by offsetting power consumption with power exported to the grid.

Benefits of the Scheme

  1. Affordable Solar Installation: Significant reduction in installation costs through dual subsidies.
  2. Reduced Power Bills: Energy savings via net metering by exporting excess power to the grid.
  3. No Batteries Needed:
    • Eliminates costly battery installations.
    • Avoids 15-20% energy loss in storage and retrieval.
  4. Ease of Maintenance: Grid-connected systems are simpler to maintain compared to standalone systems.
  5. Environmental Impact: Promotes clean and renewable energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
