Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities Telangana: ₹20 Lakh for PG & Ph.D.

The Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities was launched by the Minorities Welfare Department, Government of Telangana in 19.05.2015. The scheme provides financial assistance to 500 students per year from the minority community to pursue PG and Doctoral (Ph.D.) studies in accredited foreign universities.


Benefits of the Scheme

1. Tuition Fees & Financial Assistance

  • Installment-I: ₹10.00 Lakhs (or actual fee, whichever is lower) upon submission of the landing permit/1-94 Card (Immigration Card).
  • Installment-II: ₹10.00 Lakhs (or actual fee, whichever is lower) upon submission of 1st Semester Results.

2. Additional Benefits

  • One-way airfare to the selected country.
  • Educational loan eligibility from any nationalized bank.
  • Awardees are allowed to work as Research/Teaching Assistants to supplement their allowances.

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility

  • Resident of Telangana.
  • Belongs to a Minority Community.
  • Upper Age Limit: 35 years (as of July 1 of the application year).
  • Only one child per family is eligible.
  • Scholarship can be availed only once (no repeat awards).

Educational Qualification Requirements

  • For Postgraduate Courses:
    • 60% marks or equivalent grade in Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:
      • Engineering
      • Management
      • Pure Sciences
      • Agriculture Sciences
      • Medicine & Nursing
      • Social Sciences
      • Humanities
  • For Ph.D. Courses:
    • 60% marks or equivalent grade in Postgraduate Degree in any of the above disciplines.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid TOEFL/IELTS & GRE/GMAT scores.
  • Admission confirmation from an accredited foreign university.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Family income should be below ₹5 lakh per annum.

Important Notes

  1. Candidates must join the university within one year of selection; otherwise, the award is automatically canceled.

  4. 33% of scholarships are reserved for women candidates.
  5. Only one child per family can avail of this scholarship.

  1. Notification is published in newspapers and on the e-PASS portal in August/September and January/February.
  2. Apply online at Telangana ePass between:
    • August 1 – September 30
    • January 1 – February 28/29
  3. Click on “Overseas Scholarship Services” on the homepage.
  4. Select “Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities” and click on ‘Registration’.
  5. Fill in the registration form and submit the application.
