Launched on 2nd October 2020 by the Government of Assam, the Orunodoi (or Arunodoi) Scheme is aimed at providing financial support to over 24 lakh poor households in the state. Under this scheme, a nominated woman from each eligible household receives a consolidated monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This support helps with essential household needs such as procuring medicines, pulses, sugar, and other nutritional items. The scheme is designed to empower the primary caretakers of families by offering “Substantial Earnings Assistance” and improving their socio-economic condition.
Benefits
- Monthly Financial Assistance:
A total of ₹1,000 per family per month is provided, which is allocated as follows:- ₹400 per month for medicines.
- ₹200 per month as a 50% subsidy for 4 kg of pulses.
- ₹80 per month as a 50% subsidy for 4 kg of sugar.
- ₹150 per month for the purchase of essential fruits and vegetables.
- ₹170 per month for other essential needs.
- Disbursement:
The funds are transferred directly into the nominated woman’s bank account on the first day of every month.
