The Arun Pig Development Scheme was launched in the financial year 2019–20 by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. This scheme aims to uplift the pig farming sector by supporting rural communities, especially those from socio-economically weaker sections.
In Arunachal Pradesh, pig farming is highly relevant due to local dietary preferences and the inherent advantages of pigs such as high fecundity, early maturity, better feed conversion, and low investment requirements. The scheme encourages scientific rearing and promotes piggery as a viable livelihood option.

Benefits
