The Family/ Widow Pension Scheme is administered by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW Welfare Board), Department of Labour, Punjab. This welfare scheme is designed to provide financial assistance in the form of a family pension to the surviving spouse of a registered construction worker upon their death. The scheme ensures continued financial support to the spouse until remarriage or until they become eligible for their own pension from the Board.
Benefits
- Pension Amount:
- The surviving spouse receives a family pension of ₹1,000 per month until remarriage.
- Important Notes:
- If both spouses are registered Board beneficiaries and both are receiving pensions, the surviving spouse will not receive a family pension.
- If the deceased worker’s spouse has remarried or becomes eligible for an old age pension from the Government, they will not be eligible for the family pension.
- In cases where only one spouse is a beneficiary, upon the death of that spouse, the surviving spouse receives the family pension until they qualify for their own pension from the Board, at which point the family pension stops.
