The “Accident Relief Scheme” is an initiative by the Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance of ₹20,000 to the legal heirs of households below the poverty line when the primary breadwinner (male or female) dies due to an accident. The scheme covers 44 occupational categories of notified employment as per G.O.Ms.No.471, Finance (CMPRF) Department dated 23.05.1989. Additionally, depending on the nature of the injury sustained and the degree of physical impairment, relief ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 is also provided.

Application Process
Offline Process
- Obtain Application Form:
- Visit the district Taluk office of the Tahsildars during office hours.
- Request a hard copy of the prescribed application form from the staff entrusted with issuing and collecting filled-in applications.
- Fill the Form:
- Complete all mandatory fields in the application form.
- Attach copies of all mandatory documents (self-attested, if required).
- Submit the Form:
- Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the District Collector, Revenue Divisional Officer, or Special Tahsildar.
- Receipt:
- Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the Tahsildar, ensuring it contains the date and time of submission and a unique identification number (if applicable).
