The Amma Two Wheeler Scheme for Working Women is an initiative by the Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Tamil Nadu Government. Benefits

Subsidy:
- A maximum subsidy of 50% of the cost of the vehicle or ₹25,000, whichever is lower, is provided for a new motorized two-wheeler with an engine capacity not exceeding 125cc.
- If the vehicle is purchased from the beneficiary’s funds, subsidy reimbursement is allowed upon meeting eligibility conditions.

Loan Facilities:
- Beneficiaries may use their funds or avail loans from Banks/Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs) under RBI regulations to cover the balance cost.

Reservation Quotas:
- 21% of the scheme’s allocation is reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes.
- 1% is reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
- 4% is reserved for differently abled women (across all categories).
Eligibility Criteria
- Residency & Age:
- The applicant must be a native of, and reside in, Tamil Nadu.
- Age must be between 18 to 40 years.
- Driving Requirement:
- Must know how to drive and possess a valid Two Wheeler Driving License or Learner License Registration (LLR) at the time of applying.
- Note: If applying with an LLR, obtain a valid Two Wheeler Driving License before submitting the subsidy claim form, and attach a copy with the claim.
- Income:
- The annual income should not exceed ₹2,50,000.
- Family Limitation:
- Only one woman per family is eligible.
- Education:
- The applicant should have appeared for the Class 8th examination (Passed/Failed).
- Priority Categories:
- Preference is given to working women in remote/hilly areas, women-headed households, deserted women, destitute widows, differently abled women, unmarried women aged above 35, Scheduled Caste/Tribe women, and transgender women.
- Employment/Education:
- The beneficiary must be in gainful employment or pursuing higher studies.

- The scheme is intended for women who are individually or collectively engaged in livelihood activities/wage employment and commute long distances as their primary income source. This includes:
- Women workers in organized and unorganized sectors,
- Employees in shops and establishments,
- Self-employed women in petty trades,
- Women employed in government-aided organizations, private institutions, government projects, or community-based organizations (e.g., Panchayat Level Federations, Village Poverty Reduction Committees),
- Banking correspondents/facilitators and ASHA workers.
