The H.P. Swaran Jayanti Middle Merit Scholarship Scheme was launched by the Department of Elementary Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh.
The scheme aims to identify and nurture talented students in Class V by awarding 100 merit-based scholarships through a state-level examination conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Solan (H.P.).
The top 100 students who clear the State-Level Examination will be awarded scholarships from Class VI to Class VIII.

Examination Pattern
- The examination will consist of one test of 100 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- The duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours (150 minutes).
- Children with disabilities will get 30 extra minutes.
- No negative marking.

- The scholarship is awarded for three years (Class VI to VIII).
- The amount will be directly credited to the student’s bank account through e-Vitaran or another approved mode.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a student of Class V in a Himachal Pradesh Government School.
- Should continue studying in Government Schools of H.P. till Class VIII.
- Must maintain 75% attendance throughout the session.
- No repetition of class is allowed for scholarship continuity.
- Exemption in attendance for students with medical emergencies (subject to verification by a Medical Board).

Collect the Application Form
- Eligible students should contact their Class Teacher to get the application form.

- The filled application form must be submitted to the Class Teacher before the deadline.

- The Class Head Teacher (CHT) will verify the documents and eligibility.
- The CHT will confirm the details online and generate admit cards for students.

- Admit cards will be provided to students before the examination date.

- Students should appear for the State-Level Examination on the scheduled date.

Merit List Preparation
- SCERT will prepare the result and merit list within a month after the exam.
- District-wise quota of scholarships will be based on enrollment data of Class V students in Government Schools.

- Once the results are declared, the scholarship will be released to the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
