The Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatravriti Yojna was launched by the Department of Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh to financially support meritorious Scheduled Caste (SC) students. Under this scheme, scholarships are awarded to the top 1250 students belonging to the SC category who have excelled in the Matriculation Examination conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala.
The scholarship is awarded purely on merit and helps students pursuing professional/technical courses within or outside Himachal Pradesh. Renewal of the scholarship is based on academic performance in the first year of the course.
Benefits
- ₹18,000 per year for two successive years after matriculation.
- Total benefit: ₹36,000 per student over two years.

Eligibility Criteria
- Permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
- Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
- Must have passed Matriculation Examination with merit from the HP Board of School Education, Dharamshala.
- Must take admission in a recognized Professional/Technical Institution within or outside the state.
- Scholarship is valid for two consecutive years only.
- Renewal in the second year is subject to satisfactory performance in the first year.
Application Process
Online Application via NSP (National Scholarship Portal)
- Visit the NSP Portal: https://scholarships.gov.in.
- Click on “New Registration” and fill in the required details.
- Get your Student Registration ID upon successful registration.
- Login using the Student Registration ID and select “Fresh Application”.
- Fill out the application form and click “Final Submit”.
- Receive a system-generated Registration Number for future reference.
- Take a printout of the submitted application and submit it to the Head of the Institution for verification.
Institutional Verification & Submission Process:
- The Head of the Institution will verify and retain the printed application.
- The Institution will forward the verified applications to the District Deputy Director of Higher Education (DDHE) or the Directorate of Education for final verification.
- Forms submitted offline will not be accepted.
