The Revised Education Scheme for Children of Artisans/Weavers is an initiative by the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to the children of registered Weavers and Artisans to support their education. The scholarship is granted to a maximum of two children per family and is disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligibility

  • Parent of the applicant must be a registered Weaver/Artisan with the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, J&K.
  • The parent must have a valid registration card/certificate from the department.
  • The total annual family income should not exceed ₹90,000 (Income certificate required from 1st Class Magistrate/Tehsildar).
  • The applicant must have:
    • Below Poverty Line (BPL) Card, Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Ration Card, or Priority Household (PHH) Card OR
    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate.
  • Maximum of two children per family can apply for the scholarship.

Exclusions

The applicant must not have availed benefits from the following schemes:

  • Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme
  • Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme
  • Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme
  • Any other government scholarship scheme

The applicant must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Zonal Educational Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer.

Application Process

Offline Application

  1. Notification for applications will be published in leading newspapers/electronic media.
  2. The Assistant Director of the concerned district will collect applications from eligible Weavers/Artisans.
  3. The field staff will verify eligibility before finalizing the selection of beneficiaries.
  4. The scholarship will be awarded based on available funds during the financial year.
