The Hostel Scheme for Disabled Students was launched by the Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh on 08.09.2008. The scheme aims to provide hostel facilities to disabled students pursuing Class 11 and above. If hostel facilities are unavailable, students can receive rental assistance to stay in private accommodations near their educational institutions.
Benefits
- Rental Assistance: ₹750/- per month for private accommodation.
- Utility Support: ₹1,000/- per month for electricity and water charges.
- Rent Approval: The District Collector can approve student home rent up to ₹1,500/- per month.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- The applicant must be a person with a disability (PwD) with a disability percentage of 40% or more.
- The applicant must be studying in Class 11 or higher in a recognized government or private educational institution.
- The student must be enrolled in a minimum two-year diploma course at a Government Higher Secondary School, College, or Polytechnic College.
- The annual income of the student’s parents/guardians must not exceed ₹96,000/-.
Additional Conditions
- To avail of student home facilities, there must be at least 5 boys or 5 girls students in a private accommodation.
- Separate hostels for boys and girls will be provided.
- Students with 40% or more disability (as per Section-2 of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995) are eligible.
- Principals of Government/Non-Government Institutions are responsible for granting admission.
- Students eligible for a post-matriculation scholarship will receive only the hostel rate scholarship.
- Students availing this hostel scheme are not eligible for any other state scholarship.
Application Process
Offline Registration
- Obtain the prescribed application form from the District Office of Social Justice and Disabled Welfare.
- Fill out the form and attach required documents.
- Submit the application to the District Officer of Social Justice.
- The District Officer will inspect the accommodation to check for:
- Electricity, water, and toilet facilities.
- Building safety and proximity to educational institutions.
- Suitability for students.
- After verification, the District Collector will approve rental and utility support.
