Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi Scheme for BC & EBC Students in Telangana

The scheme “Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi” was launched by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Telangana for meritorious students belonging to Backward Classes and economically Backward Classes to pursue Higher Studies in foreign universities. The scheme will be initially sanctioned to (300) BC & EBC Students every year and is open to all eligible graduates to pursue postgraduate studies abroad.

Benefits

1. Tuition Fees & Living Expenses:
   • Installment I: ₹10.00 Lakhs upon submission of VISA stamping, landing permit/I-94 card, and boarding pass.
   • Installment II: ₹10.00 Lakhs upon submission of 1st Semester Results.
   • Total Scholarship Amount: ₹20.00 Lakhs.
2. Educational Loan: Eligible students can avail of an educational loan of ₹10.00 lakhs from any nationalized bank.
3. Research/Teaching Assistantship: Awardees can supplement their allowance through research or teaching assistantship.
4. One-way Economy Class Ticket: A cheapest one-way flight ticket will be provided.
5. Visa Fee Reimbursement: The full visa fee will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts.

Eligibility

• Permanent resident of Telangana.
• Belonging to BC or EBC category.
• Age limit:
  • Less than 35 years as of 1st July of the year of application.
• Annual family income:
  • Less than ₹5.00 Lakhs per annum.
• Only one child per family is eligible.
• Minimum Educational Qualification:
  • 60% marks or equivalent grade in Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields:
    • Engineering, Management, Pure Sciences, Applied Sciences, Agriculture Sciences, Medicine & Nursing, Social Sciences, Humanities.
• Standardized Test Requirement:
  • Must have a valid GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS/PTE score.
• Admission Criteria:
  • Should have secured admission in an accredited foreign university.
  • Must possess a valid passport.

Important Notes

• Only one child per family can avail of the benefit.
• Candidates must secure admission on their own.
• The scholarship must be utilized within one year of selection; otherwise, it will be cancelled.
• Students cannot change the course of study after availing of the scholarship.
• Candidates must return to India after completing their studies.
• 33% of scholarships are reserved for women.
• Ph.D. courses are eligible under the scheme.
• Relaxation in minimum marks is considered on a case-by-case basis if seats remain unfilled.
