AICTE Technical Book Writing & Translation Scheme 2025: Authors & Translators in Regional Languages

AICTE-Technical Book Writing and Translation Scheme is dedicated to the promotion of the use of Scheduled Regional Languages in Technical Education and local language knowledge base development. AICTE started this scheme with the aim to promote writing and translation of technical books in Indian languages. The plan extends financial aid to authors, co-authors, and translators of technical books, written or translated by them for undergraduate (UG) as well as diploma courses. The program is planned for enabling sharing of technical know-how in regional languages, enhancing the accessibility of it and comprehensibility to the students.

Objectives:

  • To encourage the writing and publication of technical books in Indian scheduled regional languages.
  • To facilitate the creation of a treasure of technical knowledge incorporating the latest developments.
  • To provide financial support for distinguished faculty, writers, and translators who are engaged in the writing and translation of technical books.

List of 12 Scheduled Regional Languages covered under the scheme:

  1. Hindi
  2. Assamese
  3. Bengali
  4. Gujarati
  5. Kannada
  6. Malayalam
  7. Marathi
  8. Odia
  9. Punjabi
  10. Tamil
  11. Telugu
  12. Urdu

Benefits:

The maximum funding available for the scheme is as follows:

  1. Original Book Writer (UG Courses): ₹2,00,000
  2. Original Book Writer (Diploma Courses): ₹1,50,000
  3. Reviewer for UG: ₹40,000
  4. Reviewer for Diploma: ₹30,000
  5. Translator for UG & Diploma: ₹1,00,000
  6. Reviewer of Translated Books in Regional Languages for UG & Diploma: ₹20,000
    (In case of an author & co-author for one book, the amount will be split between the authors).

Eligibility:

  1. Faculty (retired or current) from AICTE-approved institutions in fields such as Degree, Diploma, Pharmacy, Management, Architecture, etc.
  2. The author(s) should have a proven academic record and expertise in the subject and the language chosen for writing/translation.
  3. Authors must be recognized for similar work previously and have a good command over both the subject and the language.
  4. The project should be focused on technical education in recognized institutions.

Offline Application:

  1. Visit the AICTE website and navigate to Schemes > Staff Development Schemes > Technical Book Writing and Translation or visit AICTE Official Scheme Page.
  2. Download the Application for Technical Book Writing and Translation.
  3. Fill in the required details accurately.
  4. Ensure that every page of the application form has the signature and stamp of the Institute’s Head.
  5. Attach all required documents.
