 The National Solar Science Fellowship Programme was launched in February 2011 by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) to spur research and innovations in the field of solar energy science, engineering, and technology. Selected Fellows will receive:

  • Annual Grant: Up to ₹32.00 lakhs, comprising:
    • Emolument: Up to ₹12.00 lakhs
    • Contingencies: Up to ₹5.00 lakhs
    • Research Grant: Up to ₹15.00 lakhs
  • The grant will be released to the host institution for distribution to the Fellow.
  • Fellows may raise additional resources from external sources such as host institutions and grant providers to further their research.

Eligibility

  1. Nationality: The applicant must be an Indian National or of Indian origin.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Doctorate or equivalent in the field of solar sciences, solar engineering, or a related area, with at least 10 years of research experience, including during Ph.D.
    • M.Tech. or M.S. degree holders with published work and research experience may also apply if the Fellowship Management Committee deems their proposal valuable.
  3. Experience: Proven leadership in solar energy research and development.
  4. No Age Bar: There is no age limit for the applicants.
  5. R&D Proposal: Applicants must submit an R&D proposal in areas identified by the Fellowship Management Committee, emphasizing solving solar energy technology problems.

Offline Application:

  2. Step 2: Applicants must submit their applications in the prescribed Proforma (Annexure-II) provided by the MNRE.
