Jharkhand Scheduled Tribe Post-Matric Scholarship 2025-26: ST Students in Higher Education

The Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority, and Backward Class Welfare Department implemented Jharkhand State Scheduled Tribe Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme to uplift the higher education opportunities for students who belong to Jharkhand’s Scheduled Tribes. Through this scholarship program, scholarships for post-matric students under academic, technical, and professional courses shall be provided. Thus, dropout ratio among such pupils from neglected vicinities of society may drop so that without financial burdens students may have ample opportunities for education.

Money Ratio: The Jharkhand State Government offers 40% of the money, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, offers 60%.


Eligibility:

  • Should be a Scheduled Tribe (ST) member and a permanent resident of Jharkhand.
  • Annual income of a family should not exceed ₹2,50,000.
  • Should be studying in an institution that is recognized and follows the rules of the scheme.
  • Should not be getting any financial assistance or any other type of government scholarship.

Course Grouping:

  • Group 1: NAAC-accredited professional graduate and postgraduate courses at recognized universities with grades of A++, A+, or A/B++.
  • Group 2: Diploma and vocational courses requiring a Class 12 diploma or above.
  • Courses under polytechnic and others outside Groups 1 and 2 fall into Group 3.
  • Group 4: Graduation and postgraduation.
  • Group 5: All courses for which there is no degree following matriculation.

Procedure for Application

1. Online registration:

  • Step 1: The Department of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Classes Welfare of Jharkhand has assigned the e-Kalyan portal for students to register on.
  • Step 2: To complete the registration, authenticate through your name, gender, birthdate, Aadhaar number, and cellphone number.
  • Step 3: A further processing application ID will be generated after a successful registration.

2. Web-Based Application

  • Step 1: Enter your application ID and password to log in to the e-Kalyan website.
  • Step 2: Fill up the application form and then select a suitable scholarship scheme.
  • Step 3: Upload the paperwork such as records of education, caste and income certificates, admission proofs.
  • Step 4: Submit and get the application verified by the relevant educational institution.

3. Verification of Educational Institution

Applications need to be validated by the respective educational institutions. Applications, if not validated by the relevant educational establishments, will be rejected.

Note: In this scheme, there is no offline mechanism for application submission.
