The Scholarships for Higher Education Abroad to Meritorious Boys and Girls from Open Category Scheme was launched on 4 October 2018 by the Government of Maharashtra. It is proposed for providing financial support to eligible open/unreserved category students so that meritorious students belonging to the State can pursue studies such as PG, Diplomas, and Ph.D. Students should focus on programs with universities ranked within the Top 200 by Times Higher Education (THE) or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
Benefits
- Covered Total Fee: Covers full tuition based on the offer provided by the respective university.
- Health Cover: Pays entirely for personal health cover for all time spent for learning.
- Subsistence Allowance: An allowance for students for living expenditures:
- GBP 9900 if going to the UK
- USD 15400 otherwise
- Airfare Coverage: Coverage of one single airfare by the student for travel.
Eligibility
The Scholarships for Higher Education Abroad program is open for the following classes of applicants only:
- Nationality and Residency: The applicant and his/her parents/guardian must be citizens of India and residents of Maharashtra.
- Category: The student has to belong to the open/unreserved category only. Those from the reserved category applying under the open category are also eligible.
- University Ranking: THE or QS should rank the foreign university in the first 200 rankings.
- Offer Letter: An unconditional offer letter issued by the overseas institution has to be possessed by the applicant.
- Income Criteria: The annual income of the family has to be less than ₹8 lakhs.
Eligibility of the Course:
For PG, Diploma, and Ph.D. courses, candidates need to fulfill the academic and institutional requirements as prescribed by the scheme.
