The Disability Pension and Ex-Gratia scheme is a venture of the BOCW Welfare Board, Department of Labour, Karnataka, which offers financial support to all registered construction workers who suffer partial disabilities due to accidents or diseases acquired during working hours. Such assistance comes in the form of monthly disability pensions or ex-gratia, depending on the percentage of disability suffered. Pension is withdrawn at the age of 60 years of the beneficiary.
Benefits
- Monthly Disability Pension: ₹2,000/- per month.
- Extra Ex-Gratia: ₹2,00,000/- According to the percentage of disability.
Eligibility
For Registration as a Building/Construction Worker:
- The applicant should be a Building/Construction Worker (Unorganised Worker).
- The applicant should be above 18 years.
- The applicant shall have worked at least for 90 days in building and construction during the preceding year.
For Application of the Welfare Scheme:
- The applicant needs to be enrolled as a building and other construction worker under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board of Karnataka.
- The partial disability should arise from accidents in the workplace or diseases.
- The applicant should not have enjoyed Accident Benefits over the same disablement.
- The applicant should be below sixty (60) years. Pension is not available after completing sixty years.
Application Procedure
Online Registration for Building/Construction Worker
- Visit the official KBOCWWB website and click on “Register.”
- Select “Register as New Construction Worker” and enter the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, verify with OTP.
- From the dashboard, click on “Registration.”
- Complete the required details and upload the necessary documents. Click on “Final Submit” to finish the registration.
Applying for the Welfare Scheme:
- After registration approval, log in to the KBOCWWB website.
- From the dashboard, click on “Schemes.”
- Select the appropriate scheme and fill the application form.
- Upload the documents, verify the details, and click “Submit.”
Renewal Procedure
- Login to KBOCWWB website with the registered mobile number and OTP.
- Click on “Renewal” and fill the form.
- Upload required documents and click “Submit.”
Note
- Renewal: The registration has to be renewed after every 3 years. After this period, a grace period of 1 year is given. If the registration is not renewed, it will become invalid.
- Timeline: Applications must be submitted within 6 months of receipt of the ID card from the competent authority.

- Employment Certificate (Form V(A)/V(B)/V(C)/V(D)) for a period of 90 days working.
- Aadhaar Card (Self-attested).
- Ration Card (optional).

- Proof of Identity/Smart Card issued by the Board.

- Hospital Bills showing date of admission and discharge in addition to the details about the treatment done.

Note: In case of death of the beneficiary, the nominee shall furnish the death certificate to the Board.
