Launched in 2018 under Goa’s Information Technology Policy Schemes by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa, the Patent Filing Reimbursement Scheme is designed to support eligible IT units in Goa by reimbursing the expenses incurred toward filing patents. The scheme offers a total reimbursement of up to ₹25,00,000 per unit during the policy period and is open to all new and existing units operating in Goa.
Benefits

A total reimbursement of up to ₹25,00,000 per unit is available for expenses incurred on patent filing during the policy period.

For each successful domestic patent, reimbursement of up to ₹2,50,000 is provided.

For each successful international patent, reimbursement of up to ₹5,00,000 is provided.
Note: The scheme’s benefits are subject to budgetary allocation. No promissory estoppel will apply if benefits are discontinued due to budget constraints. The incentive is available only for patents granted during the policy period.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

All new and existing IT units must have their operations in Goa.

The applicant must be organized as one of the following:

Proprietorship Firm

Private Limited Company (incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 or equivalent)

Public Limited Company (incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 or equivalent)

Registered Partnership Firm (incorporated under the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 or equivalent)

Limited Liability Partnership (incorporated under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 or equivalent)

The bank accounts of the unit or its partner(s)/director(s) must be linked to Aadhaar.
Exclusions
Units that are already availing similar financial incentives under any other policy of the Government of Goa are not eligible for the benefits of this scheme.
Application Process
The application process is entirely online and involves the following steps:

Visit the Official Web Portal of Goa Online and click “Register” at the top right corner.

Verify your Email ID and Mobile Number using an OTP to access the Registration Page.

Complete the registration form by filling in all mandatory fields, creating a login name and a strong password, and accepting the Declaration and Terms & Conditions.

Log in to the website using your credentials.

Under the “Services” tab, select “IT Services” and click on the Patent Filing Reimbursement Scheme.

Submit the application and note the unique registration number generated for future reference.
Note: Applicants may reapply on a quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis after incurring the relevant expenditure.
