The scheme supports individual innovators in developing their novel ideas into prototypes, promoting inclusive development. It’s managed by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology.

Benefits

  • Project cost supported up to ₹5,00,000

  • Maximum financial assistance: ₹2,00,000 or 90% of approved cost (whichever is lower)

  • Aimed at converting ideas into demonstrable models/prototypes

  • Note: Not a prize/research fellowship; infrastructure or salary costs not covered

Eligibility

  • Any Indian citizen, including student innovators

  • Proposals preferred in sectors like:

    • Green Technology

    • Clean Energy

    • Smart Materials

    • Waste to Wealth

    • Affordable Healthcare

    • Water and Sewage Management

    • Knowledge-intensive technologies

  • In case of a student group: only one applicant receives funding; others get appreciation letters upon completion

Exclusions

  • Pure software development or academic research

  • Doctoral research projects

  • Infrastructure setup or self-salary costs

  • Projects without a clear commercialization potential

Application Process

Offline Mode Only

  1. Proposal Submission: Submit completed proposal in prescribed format to nearest TOCIC

  2. Initial Screening: TOCIC coordinators review proposals for completeness

  3. Expert Evaluation: Domain experts assess technical merit

  4. Recommendation: Eligible proposals forwarded to DSIR’s PRISM Advisory and Screening Committee (PASC)

  5. Grant Approval: Applicants sign Terms & Conditions; receive initial fund release based on milestones

  6. Monitoring: Regular reviews by TOCIC and Project Review Committees (PRCs)

  7. Closure: Completion report reviewed by PRC and accepted by DSIR

  • Proof of residence (e.g., Ration Card, SDM/DM certificate)

  • Brief of the innovation and its unique element

  • Supporting material: photos, video, press coverage, etc.

  • Proposed work plan

  • Profile of target users

  • Aadhaar card copy

  • PAN and latest ITR (if applicable)

  • For students: NOC from institution head and commitment letter
