The “Subsidy for Asset Creation for Intellectual Property: Patent Registration” is a scheme by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. It is designed to encourage innovation among MSMEs by offering financial support for patent registration, both in India and abroad. The scheme serves as a key differentiator to promote intellectual property creation in Tamil Nadu.

Application Process

Mode: Online

Step 1: Registration

1. Visit the Official Portal of the MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu

2. Click “Login / Registration” in the top menu

3. Fill in required details: Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, Mobile Number

4. Create a secure password (must include uppercase, lowercase, number, and minimum 8 characters)

5. Fill in the captcha and click “Register”

Step 2: Login

1. Go to the Login page

2. Enter the credentials received on your email and mobile number

Step 3: Form Filling

1. Hover over “Schemes”, then click on the respective scheme

2. Under “Apply Online”, select “New Application”

3. Fill out the application form, agree to the terms and click “Proceed”

4. Note the reference number displayed

Step 4: Upload Documents

1. Navigate to “Schemes” > “Upload Documents”

2. Enter your Application ID and click “Submit”

3. Upload all required documents in PDF format (under 200 KB)

4. Click “View” to verify uploaded documents

Step 5: Submission

1. Select all confirmation checkboxes

2. Click “Submit Application”

3. You will receive an SMS confirmation of submission to GM/DIC/RJD

(Optional) Step 6: Track Application Status

• Use the portal to track application progress

• Email or SMS alerts may be sent for status updates

Applications must be submitted within 6 months from the date of Patent/Trademark/GI Registration

Documents Required

• Copy of UDYAM Registration Certificate

• Copy of Patent Certificate (as per Indian Patent Act, 1970)

• Copy of Trademark Certificate (as per Trade Marks Act, 1999), if applicable

• Copy of GI Registration Certificate, if applicable

• Self-Certified Expenditure Statement with bills/vouchers/receipts

  • In absence of receipts, provide bank scrolls showing payment

• Copy of Loan Sanction Letter, if loan was availed for registration

• Invoices and Receipts for payment made

• Advance Stamped Receipt
