The Manav Garima Yojana was initiated by the Directorate of Scheduled Caste Welfare, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Gujarat in 1995. This scheme aims to uplift the economic condition of Scheduled Caste (SC) individuals by promoting self-employment through cottage industries, without the need for bank loans.
Under this scheme, individuals are provided with employment toolkits related to various trades to help them start their businesses. The Gujarat Rural Industries Marketing Corporation Ltd. (GRIMCO) procures and distributes these toolkits to artisans and small vendors living below the poverty line.
This initiative supports trades like vending, tailoring, carpentry, and more—benefitting the weaker sections of society through sustainable livelihood.
