This scheme aims to reduce the adverse effects of climate change, improve the environment, increase farmers’ income through tree plantation, reduce wood imports, ease biotic pressure on forests, and control floods and droughts by raising land water levels.

Benefits

• Farmers who sold paddy in 2020 and plant trees instead receive Rs. 10,000/- per acre per year for 3 years on successful plantation.
• Forest/revenue forest land rights holders also get Rs. 10,000/- per acre per year for 3 years on successful plantation.
• Gram Panchayats receive an incentive of Rs. 10,000/- per acre after 1 year on successful commercial plantation from available funds.
• Joint Forest Management Committees receive the same incentive of Rs. 10,000/- per acre after 1 year on revenue land plantation.

• All farmers of Chhattisgarh who sold paddy to the government after cultivating paddy in 2020.

• Forest rights holders planting trees for the first time.
• All Gram Panchayats and Joint Forest Management Committees planting trees on revenue land with available funds.
