The Machha Chasa Pain Nua Pokhari Khola Yojana (Matsya Pokhari Yojana) was launched by the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha. It aims to create additional water bodies for intensive aquaculture in the inland sector through the excavation of new tanks/ponds and to generate income and employment through the promotion of freshwater aquaculture.

The scheme is implemented in the State of Odisha. District-wise annual targets are communicated by the Director of Fisheries at the beginning of the financial year and may be adjusted based on the progress made by the DLOs.

Eligibility
• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
• The applicant must possess identity and residential proof including an Aadhar card.
• The applicant should have a bank account in his/her name in Odisha.
• The applicant must have requisite land free from encumbrances.
• The pond area must be between 0.2 to 2.00 hectares with a minimum water depth of 6 feet.
• Previous beneficiaries of similar subsidies are eligible for additional subsidies up to a total of 2 hectares.

• Step 1: Visit the office of the District Fisheries Officer/Assistant Fisheries Officer during office hours and request the hard copy of the prescribed application form, or take a print of the prescribed format (Annexure-II).
