Objective of the Scheme
The scheme provides financial assistance to universities and institutions to conduct:
- Remedial Coaching for Undergraduate (UG) & Postgraduate (PG) Students
- Improves academic skills and linguistic proficiency.
- Strengthens knowledge in subjects involving quantitative and qualitative techniques.
- Reduces failure/dropout rates.
- Provides career guidance and psychological counseling.
- Coaching for Entry into Government & Private Sector Services
- Prepares students for Central and State Government services (e.g., IAS, State PSC, Banking, Railways).
- Helps students crack competitive exams for employment in the private sector.
- Institutions may establish Employment Information Cells to provide guidance.
- Coaching for National Eligibility Test (NET) & State Eligibility Test (SET)
- Helps SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) & Minority students prepare for NET/SET exams for Lectureship in Universities.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicable to: Universities and colleges covered under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.
- Institutions must have a substantial number of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) & Minority students.
- General category candidates from Below Poverty Line (BPL) can also apply.
- If SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) & Minority student numbers are insufficient, up to 40% seats may be allocated to OBC (non-creamy layer) and economically weaker General candidates.
