Goa State Cultural Award 2025: Recognizing Excellence in Art and Culture

The “Goa State Cultural Award” is an initiative by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, to recognize and honor eminent personalities in the field of Art and Culture. The award celebrates the lifetime achievements and extraordinary contributions of Goan artists to the cultural landscape of Goa.


Objectives

  1. Honor Eminent Artists: Recognize and celebrate individuals for their outstanding achievements in art and culture.
  2. Lifetime Recognition: Felicitate artists for their lifetime dedication and contributions.
  3. Cultural Promotion: Encourage excellence in various art forms and create awareness of Goa’s rich cultural heritage.

Benefits

  • Awardees receive:
    • Shawl, Sriphal, and Certificate of Appreciation.
    • A financial purse of ₹1,00,000/- per individual.
    • Monthly financial assistance under the Kala Samman Scheme.

Number of Awards

A maximum of 12 awards are conferred annually in the following categories:

  1. Music
  2. Dance
  3. Drama/Theatre, including Tiatr
  4. Performing Folk Art
  5. Fine Art & Craft
  6. Bhajan/Kirtan/Choir
  7. Film & Audio-Visual Arts
  8. Overall Contribution to Art & Culture
  9. Literature
  10. Creative Photography

Announcement and Presentation

  • Award Announcement: Within 6 months from the last date of application submission.
  • Award Presentation: On or before April 30 each year.

Eligibility

  1. Individual Artist: The applicant must be an individual artist.
  2. Age: Must be 60 years or older.
  3. Contribution: The artist should have contributed to art and culture in Goa for a minimum of 10 years during their career.
  4. Posthumous Awards: Awards are not presented posthumously. However, if an artist passes away after being recommended, their name may still be considered.

Exclusions

  1. No Dependency Assistance: No assistance will be paid to dependents after the artist’s death.
  2. Pension Holders: Awardees already receiving pensions under any state or central scheme are ineligible for Kala Samman financial assistance.
  3. One-Time Recognition: Individuals cannot receive the award more than once.

Offline Procedure:

  1. Visit the Office:
    • Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa,

  2. Obtain the Application Form:
    • Take a print or request a hard copy of the application form.
  3. Fill Out the Form:
    • Complete all mandatory fields, affix a passport-sized photo (signed across), and attach the required documents.
  4. Submit the Application:

  • Recommendation Letter from an Individual or Institution.
  • ID Proof of Recommender.
  • Brief Biodata (not exceeding one page).

For Nominee:

  1. Birth/ Age Proof Certificate.
  2. Aadhar Card Copy.
  3. Biodata.
  4. Two Passport-Sized Photographs.
  5. Photographs of Performances/ Felicitations/ Contributions.
  6. Certificates of Achievements (if any).
  7. Proof of NRI/OCI status (if applicable).
  8. Copy of the 1st Page of the Bank Passbook or a Cancelled Cheque.
