The Financial Assistance to Revive, Preserve and Protect Goan Maand Culture scheme was launched by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa to protect and rejuvenate the rich traditions of Goan folk art, music, and folklore. This scheme specifically targets the revival of traditional Maand culture, which includes art forms such as Zagor, Ranmalle, Kallo, Shigmo, Goff, Dhalo-Fugadi, and musical traditions like Ghumatvadan, Shamelvadan, and others.

  1. To revive, preserve, and protect Goan Maand culture and its traditional art forms.

Benefits

  1. Honorarium:
    • Maand Guru/Trainer: ₹9,000 per month.
    • Assistant: ₹6,000 per month.
    • Trainees: ₹1,500 per month (minimum 30 trainees per group).
  2. Financial Assistance for Infrastructure:
    • Purchase of folk instruments: ₹50,000.
    • Repair of instruments and Maand place: ₹40,000.
    • Costumes and drapery for performances: Up to ₹60,000.
    • Maintenance of Maand place (daily cleaning, floor upkeep): ₹25,000.

Note: Financial assistance (Points 4–7) will be applicable only during the training course duration.
